Motrin & Childrens Motrin May Cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome & Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) Motrin & Childrens Motrin are both over the counter (OTC) medications that are used for the common aches and pains associated with the common cold, sore throat, headache, and toothache. Because Motrin and Childrens Motrin are OTC medications they are presumed to be very safe. Each year millions of adults and children use Motrin without serious side effects however not everyone is that lucky. Motrin and Childrens Motrin side effects include serious and sometimes deadly skin disorders including: Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), Erythema Multiforme & Leyll's Syndrome. It appears that children and teens are effected more then adults however anyone that uses Motrin is at risk of developing these side effects. It is believed that Stevens Johnson Syndrome and the other associated skin disorders are caused by a severe allergic reaction to Motrin.
